Air Typer Walkthrough

Air Typer is a hybrid of typing game and shooter game. This educational game features vibrant graphics, upbeat music, and simple controls.

The objective of Air Typer is to shoot down hot air balloons and blimps before the reach the left side of the screen. This goal is accomplished by typing the words and letters that appear on the enemy aircraft. The faster you type and shoot down the balloons, the more points that you will score. If you let too many enemies slip by, you will lose the game. There is no save game feature in this typing game, so you will have to start from the beginning each time that you play.

As you progress in Air Typer, the words that must be typed will become longer and enemies will become faster and more numerous. To overcome this difficulty, you are given a weapon known as the zapper that can clear the entire screen of enemies if you get in a pinch. This weapon can only be deployed when the zapper bar in the lower-left corner of the screen is full. If you are an educator, you may want to discourage your students from using this function so that they can get the full benefit of typing practice. This typing game does not allow you to disable the zapper, but you can put your students on an "honor system".

Air Typer provides just enough action to keep players interested, but not enough to overstimulate, making it an excellent tool for parents and educators to help young children practice their typing. The sound can be muted by clicking the speaker icon in the lower-left corner of the screen, a useful feature if the sound is too distracting to players or other students. This typing game alone will not teach keyboarding, but it can be used as an exercise that makes learning entertaining.
